Kids LOVE peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, right!? Well, most anyway. So, put the classic PB&J sandwich and Halloween together and you get…
Spider Sandwiches!!!! (this is where you clap and do some “woo-hoos!”)
This simple & cute Halloween lunch is perfect if you want to do something special for the kiddos, without having to think of something new. It’s a classic, most kids like it, and you most likely have everything you’ll need already!
Here’s what you need:
- Peanut butter (or any butter spread for dietary or allergy reasons)
- Pretzel sticks
- Raisins (sub for any round item, such as, chocolate chips, craisins, red grapes)
I had 3 kids to make this for, so I did it with them “helping”. We all know that means there were pretzels eaten, raisins thrown on the floor and each other, fingers in the peanut butter, and numerous, “is it done yet!?” questions. But once it was done, literally 5 minutes, they were happy.
Step 1: Cut the bread in circles.
Step 2: Spread the peanut butter and jelly.
Step 3: Add the pretzel sticks for the spider legs. On the peanut butter side so they stick better.
Step 4: Put the jelly side on top of the peanut butter side and add raisins for the eyes.
Step 5: Enjoy!
While eating we chatted about spiders, counted legs, talked about the shape of the bread, and what they were excited about this Halloween. Make lunch a conversation. Make it fun and educational without them knowing. Ask them their opinions.
We hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween!
